WSC 2022 — Competition Overview
The 2022 World Sudoku Championship took place from 17–18 October 2022 in Kraków, Poland, hosted at the Metropolo by Golden Tulip. Located in the southern part of the city, the venue offered a modern and comfortable environment for both participants and organizers. The historic charm of Kraków, with its medieval streets and vibrant culture, provided a beautiful backdrop for two exciting days of world-class puzzle solving.
The championship highlighted exceptional performances, with Tiit Vunk of Estonia claiming the individual world title, followed by Dai Tantan of China in second place and Kota Morinishi of Japan in third. In the team competition, Czech Republic secured the gold medal, Japan took silver, and Estonia earned bronze after a closely fought contest.
The Kraków event combined excellent organization with a warm and collegial atmosphere, featuring a diverse mix of classic and variant Sudoku rounds. Participants enjoyed not only the thrill of competition but also the city’s rich history, architecture, and hospitality, making the 15th WSC a memorable and well-loved edition in the series.
