WSC 2024 — Competition Overview

The 2024 World Sudoku Championship was held from 14–15 October 2024 in Beijing, China, hosted at the elegant Grand Metropark Hotel Lake Jinhai in the city’s Pinggu District. Surrounded by lakes and mountains on Beijing’s eastern outskirts, the venue provided a tranquil contrast to the intensity of world-class puzzle solving. Participants and teams from across the globe gathered for two packed days of competition, just over an hour from central Beijing, where ancient history meets modern energy.

China’s dominance on home soil was clear throughout the event, culminating in an all-Chinese podium. Ming Letian claimed the individual world title, followed closely by Dai Tantan in second, and Hu Yuxuan in third. In the team competition, China also secured gold, with Japan taking silver and the United States earning bronze after a strong international showing.

The competition combined sharp organization with a welcoming atmosphere, featuring both classic Sudoku and innovative new variants. Between rounds, participants enjoyed the lakeside scenery, cultural exchange, and the vibrant spirit of Beijing, underscoring why China remains a memorable host for the global Sudoku community.
